Thanks for your interest. I have a good location on Aoyama Blvd. on the fourth floor that needs staffing, where I am also working when I am not too ill.

I need two or three people to run "Gallery Samurai" and "Japanese-Antiques" 7 days a week from 11 to 7 PM or possibly from 12 to 8 PM.

I have an active international art and antique business that buys and sells around the world. We specialize in selling high level swords, netsuke, inro, paintings, and more to advanced collectors. We should be selling at Japanese art shows but we are not. We should be improving the store and the web sites but we are not. I am looking for an intelligent and innovative person who can work along side me and who wishes to learn all about this business. Two people as a team are needed to handle photography, letters, accounting, catalog creation, internet, email magazines, and emails daily.

I prefer a good Japanese speaker who is comfortable with the idea of dealing with all types of personalities, from poor to rich. I wish to buy and sell inside Japan and this means calling, writing, visiting, exhibiting, preparing catalogs, even perhaps a book of my collection. I do sell world-wide and so need help with this too. Scroll down for more info in English about working with me....

I Need Help !!!

I made each of these sites myself

As you can see it is too much for one person to do:

If you really really like and want to understand Japanese Art then I want to work with you !!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can make a beautiful and profitable shop and life from this business.

I am very active on the Internet and sometimes sell a lot of Oriental and European art at auction in London and New York. We get emails every day in English and Japanese. Our customers are 10 % Japanese most of them friendly but older than 40 although not always. We need to get more Japanese customers as tehy can be very friendly and very rich and they like to talk to me about my 36 years experience as an art collector and dealer.

We sell a few cheap things to walk in traffic but prefer to sell $5,000 to $50,000 swords, netsuke, inro, prints, armor, and more.

We also used to buy and sell really good Western and Japanese Oil Paintings on weekends before I became so sick.........

Gallery Samurai will handle a little bit more decorative items but when customers are not in the store, which is unfortunately most of the time, then we need to call out, email photographs out, upload pictures on the Interent and make sales catalogs or sales sheets using Illustrator on the Mac. We have several Macs and one Windows.

I am looking for intelligent friendly people who want to learn and love art--- but understand that it is vital to sell too. If you only have weekends available you could work for me then ......... There are dozens of possibilities in this business.

Intersted? Call us and send a Rirekisho with your picture........

SIncerely,

Selling Fine Quality Japanese Art and Antiques for 30 Years

19th and 20th Century Western and Japanese Impressionist Art

July 2008 Tokyo

P.S.

I need someone who can run this art gallery for me. I need someone who will commit themselves for several years at least.

I need to travel and I need to work on other projects.

I have two viable businesses. One sells Japanese antiques and art for 36 years. This business needs revitalizing. It used to sell an incredible amount per year. It has the potential to sell this again. But it needs vital and energetic guidance: it needs agents, other stores who will co-operate, places to buy domestically, commission salesmen, signs outside, multiple Intent sites that bring in customers.

My other business is oil paintings. It is just 3 and 1/2 years old, but successful. I need help in that too.

There are many aspects to the job I would like to ask you to do. It mostly involves an intelligent but common sense approach to the daily job of buying selling advertising and promoting.

The more pressure you can remove from me the better.

If you can reply to business letters and auction houses for me this is a tremendous help. But I rarely have found someone who can do so.

If you are bright and cheerful and interesting you will find and meet rich, interesting customers who will buy from us. Some of the things we sell are valued at more than $100,000 each. Do they need Kantei or repair? A colour catalogue? Web site? These are the business problems we wrestle with every day in order to succeed and we need someone we can like and trust to work with in solving them for our mutual success.

19th and 20th Century Western and Japanese Impressionist Art Selling Fine Quality Japanese Art and Antiques for 28 Years

Here is a sample of how I think and speak. This is what independant agents could be doing if they wished....

Thursday, September 12, 2002

To all agents and potential agents:

Here are some quick ideas:

1. Go to all antique shows in your area. Get to know everyone. Talk to them. Drop off a business card. Tell them you love to buy sell trade Japanese swords and guns and Tsuba and Armour. Ask them about this business. Clubs? Kantei-kai?

2. Post free ads at the supermarket and other bulletin boards. Say "Selling Japanese Swords" and post your A-4 size ad on the wall. Put these "Chirashi" up everywhere. Put your face on them.

3. Get a small Internet web site. We use GoLive for the Mac. At first hard, later very easy, and we can train you in Tokyo if you want.

4. Cold-call customers from the Yellow pages--- every doctor, dentist, and other people you can find.

5. Place a small ad in the local newspaper? If the cost is cheapŠ..

6. We will give you 30 names from our mailing list. Call or write each and tell them you are the local agent. If that customer wants to see any swords they can come view at your house or you will bring them to their house. Then they can talk with you, look, think, and you can be our salesman to sell to them.

7. Other ways to get customers? Kantei-kai? Art clubs? Historical Festivals with antique armour and guns and swords being used (Re-enactment).

8. Other ways to find places to buy and sell: Coin dealers; stamp dealers (100% rich men); Pawn Shops (very active in Japan); dentists; accountants; lawyers; businessmen?; always think "What do you want to buy, what do you want to sell?"

9. You need a Sword Only business card and 24 hour sword only telephone number and fax number.

Then, when you have a customer, to go visit:

1. We can loan to you one or more swords to sell after you find out what your customer is looking for.

2. Make a small 4 page catalogue offering 5 swords. Give to everyone. We can give you the information and pictures and Oshigata.

3. Use our 240 Photograph album (sashin-kan) to offer ・100,000,000 in Japanese art and antiques. No one else can offer ・100,000,000 but you can because you know us.

4. We can give you 50 free videos to hand out.

5. Or, you can make a video yourself.

6. Or we can make one together. Or add your introduction to our video.

7. We are happy to use your ideas about Oshigata, photographs, videos, Chirashi, ads, put you name in our ads, go to antique shows together etc. Talk to us.

All the above depends only on the energy you put into it. If you put every spare hour into Japanese swords, then you will succeed. Each sword profit at first is ・100,000; later ・250,000. If you find one good customer you are successful for life if it is a good trusting relationship. If you sell 3 swords each month and one or two Hiroshige, or Tsuba, your income will be ・1,000,000 -------- but you must put tremendous energy and inspiration and study into it.

What you put into this is what you will get out.

Best wishes,

James R. Miller
